T.E.A.C.H. Model – A framework for designing skill-based training sessions

The T.E.A.C.H. model is a simple, repeatable framework designed to help leaders at InvestorKit create impactful training sessions that build real-world capability, not just awareness. The acronym stands for Target the Why, Explain the Concept, Apply thought Examples, Challenge with Practice, and finally; Highlight take-aways and next steps

Built specifically for skill development, this model ensures that every session moves beyond explanation and into practical application, behavioural change, and team alignment.

View T.E.A.C.H as your cheat sheet for preparing any training, follow the structure from T to H and you will have a solid training plan that will greatly improve the quality and impact of your training.

Let’s break it down;

  1. T – Target the Why
    1. Clarify the reason behind the training.

      • What problem does this solve or outcome does it enable?
      • Why is it important to the business or the individual?
      • How does it link to team KPIs or company values?
  1. E – Explain the Concept
    1. Break down the skill or idea in simple, structured terms.

      • Define the concept and when it’s used
      • Outline key principles, rules, or steps
      • Use diagrams, slides, or visuals if helpful
  1. A – Apply Through Example
    1. Show the skill in action.

      • Walk through a real or realistic scenario
      • Model what good looks like (can use roleplay, screenshots, recordings)
      • Ask: “What would you do here?” to involve the group
  1. C – Challenge with Practice
    1. Give participants a chance to try the skill themselves.

      • Run through a case study, simulated call, or written exercise
      • Encourage mistakes and coach in real-time
      • Pair them up for peer-to-peer practice if appropriate
  1. H – Highlight Takeaways & Next Steps
    1. Reinforce the learning and drive accountability.

      • Summarise the key 1–2 takeaways
      • Set a follow-up task or challenge to apply it in the real world
      • Let them know how/when their execution will be reviewed (e.g. in next coaching session)
